Multi-Edit

More than one device needs the same information but editing every single one individually is tedious. This is a guide to Multi-Edit.

Multi-Edit can be particularly helpful in situations where the same information needs to be added to multiple devices, such as when a few devices have been ordered and you want to add the order number or another piece of information. Rather than editing each device individually, you can select the relevant devices and make the changes simultaneously, making the process less laborious.

To use Multi-Edit, simply navigate to Devices, select the device(s) you wish to edit by checking the box on the left-hand side, and click on Hardware - Multi-Edit. The fields marked green are those that are the same on each device, any other in black are different in at least one device.

Hardware type update

Select Devices -> Column -> Current Hardware Type to see if your hardware type is different from inventory.

Select the hardware you want to edit and click Multi-Edit. In oder to use the Inventory hardware type, click the checkbox next to the hardware type field called Use Hardware Type from Inventory.

By selecting Use Hardware Type from Inventory, your current hardware type will be substituted for the calculated hardware type from the inventory.

Current site

Similar to updating the hardware type, you can also set the current site for multiple devices using Multi-Edit. To do this, select the devices you want to edit from the CMDB and click on the Multi-Edit button under Hardware. Then, choose Site Calculate from IP to automatically calculate the current site.
